Day 387, Concert night

Ominous sky passing by the concert.
Today is concert number 5, out of 6, for our summer concert series and there was a threat of thunderstorms for this evening.  The morning skies were clear, but it did have that humid feeling and it was getting warm quickly.  Usually around 11am we put the tent up, but today we thought we should do it first thing.

We headed to the park around 8:45am to get a jump on the heat and it was a good thing.  It takes us about 20 minutes to set the tent up and all the banners promoting the concert.  It was already warm, so I got a little more sweaty than I would have liked, but the job was done and we all jumped backed into my truck with the AC cranked.

By 4pm it was starting to cloud over and we were wondering if we were going to have to cancel the show.  Our phone started ringing with people wondering what we were going to do, and we decided we would wait until 5 to make up our mind and if it was sunny we would go ahead.  Central Oregon storms tend to just blow through and they can pass in minutes.

At 5pm the lightening was flashing all around us and it wasn't looking too promising, but you could see the storm was going to pass.  The band wanted to play and said they were going to play, so went with their decision. By 6pm the storm had passed the skies were sunny with big clouds and people started to show up.  It wasn't a large crowd, but it was respectable.  The concert was entertaining and everyone had a great time.

After the concert we had to wait for the band to break down their equipment before we could take the tent down. The concert ended at 7:30pm and it took the band an hour get packed up.  By 8:45 the tent was down and back at the office.  I got home at 9pm and I was beat.  I opened up the house and laid down on the couch and then I started to hear it pour rain.  What perfect timing, another storm was rolling through and the thunder and lightening was very impressive.
